Abstract

1,217,926. Gas blast switches. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. 8 Oct., 1969 [9 July, 1968], No. 32621/68. Heading H1N. The fixed contact 10 of an air blast switch has a central tubular portion 12 slotted, at 13, obliquely, to cause rotation of the arc and an uninterrupted outer ring 15 spaced therefrom. The moving contact may comprise an annular contact making portion 18 and an arcing contact 25 also slotted to assist arc rotation, the slots being inclined in the opposite direction. Alternatively, Fig. 2, the annular contact 31 may be slotted in the same direction as the fixed contact; a ceramic pin 34 is then provided to ensure that the arc root remains on the annular surface 32.
