Abstract

1,217,469. Supply systems for magnetrons. BOWMAR TIC Inc. 29 April, 1969 [26 March, 1969], No. 21781/69. Heading H2H. The supply voltage for the anode of a magnetron 24 used in an electric cooking apparatus comprises means for producing one or two trains of current pulses whereby the energy output of the magnetron may be varied. The system includes two constant current transformers 10, 12, the primary windings of which are connected to an A.C. supply 20, one through a switch 22, and the secondary windings of which are connected to the anode 34 of the magnetron by way of separate full-wave rectifying bridges, diodes 40, 42 being common to both bridges and the other arms of which are formed by capacitors. With the switch 22 open only one train of pulses arrives at the anode of the magnetron and with the switch closed two trains arrive thereat. With full wave rectifying bridges as in Fig. 1, the two trains of pulses are coincident so producing pulses having twice the amplitude of the pulses in a single train but when halfwave rectifying devices are used the pulses of the two trains are not coincident thus the resulting pulse train comprises twice the number of pulses present in a single train.
