Abstract

1,217,289. Flash-bulb. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept.24, 1969 [Sept.27, 1968], No.46964/69. Heading G2L. A flash-bulb of the combustible type has an envelope of transparent material which includes an oxidizable metal, an oxidizing gas, an electrically ignitable mass, current conductors connected to the mass and a tubular body surrounding the conductors. In one embodiment, a filament 7 is provided with an ignitable mass 8 and tubular body 9 surrounds the conductors 3 and 4. The tubular body 9 prevents the metal wire filling 2 from shortcircuiting the conductors and also prevents the burning mass 8 from touching the walls of the envelope 1 during combustion. In another embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown) the mass 8 is coated directly on to a bead 6 and the filament 7 is omitted.
