Abstract

1,216,990. Metal laminate. SOC. ANON. BRONZAVIA. 27 Dec., 1967 [4 Jan., 1967], No. 58659/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions E1-E2] A composite structure comprises sheet-like metal elements and one element 1 has a plurality of substantially identical spaced elongated, hollow protrusions 2 formed on one face thereof, the protrusions being disposed to lie in two sets of parallel regularly spaced rows, with the protrusions of one set of rows extending transversely of the protrusions of the other set of rows, the protrusions in each row being offset, along said row, with respect to the protrusions in each immediately adjacent row of the same set, and each protrusion of said one set of rows being disposed between two successive protrusions of a respective row of said other set, the other face of the element 1 being applied against one face of a second element, the two elements being rigidly secured together over at least part of their area of contact. The second element may be flat or have protrusions or longitudinal ribs on its outer face. The elements may be glued, brazed, spot-welded or riveted together. When both elements have protrusions these may be aligned with each other, or placed in parallel, or oriented slantwise with respect to each other. The protrusions of different elements may be of different sizes and project by different amounts. The protrusions may be formed by pressing. The structure may be flat, or follow the surface of a cylinder or cone, or may be curved in two directions by forming the elements on a press before assembly.
