Abstract

1,170,725. Needle strips for combing machines. STAEDTLER & UHL. 2 Aug., 1968 [9 Sept., 1967; 22 Nov., 1967; 2 May, 1968], No. 37115/68. Heading D1N. A needle strip 1 consists of needles, having shanks of a thickness corresponding to the needle point spacing, placed with their shanks in contiguous juxtaposition and bonded together e.g. by solder or a plastics adhesive in the region of their shanks. The shanks may be cylindrical or flatened to give flat co-operating faces 9. The bonding agent forms independent layers 4 and 5 on opposite sides of the strip. At least one reinforcing cover strip 10 may be provided, but preferably two cover strips 10 and 11 may be bonded to the needle strip in the shank region. The two cover strips may be formed as a one piece carrier having a downward extension 15, 16. The carrier may be bonded in a needle bar or may itself act as a needle bar, the plates 15, 16 being bonded together by spot welds, bolts or rivets.
