In card-feeding apparatus wherein two members 34, 36 define a throat gap 38 allowing one card only to be fed forward from the top of a pile 14, the members 34, 36 are carried by a frame 40, 42, 44, Fig. 4, pivoted at 60 to permit the members 34, 36 to have limited rotation about an axis parallel to the plane of card feed. The arrangement allows the gap 38 to move to accommodate warped cards whilst still preventing the passage of more than one card. The pile 14 is spring-pressed upwardly against an oscillating or rotary separator member 26, and the member 36 rests on the top card of the pile whilst the member 34 abuts against the front edge of the pile. The pivot 60 as shown is constituted by a thinned part of a plastic block 54, one section 56 of which is fixed to the main frame 32 and another section 58 to the frame member 40. With unwarped cards, the gap 38 would be horizontal and approximately in line with the pivot 60. If the cards are warped, the gap would be above or below the horizontal position depending on the direction of the warp in the cards. The member 36 may be adjustably mounted on the frame 42 so that the size of the gap 38 may be varied. The member 36 may be spring-biased against the top of the pile 14.
