Abstract

1,216,038. Refrigerators. DUAL JET REFRIGERATION CO. 6 June, 1969 [18 Nov., 1968], No. 28720/69. Heading F4H. The access opening of an open frontal refrigerated display case may be closed by a night-cover which fits into the opening and which is formed of a plurality of sections each having a flexible magnetic seal around its edge to seal either with an adjacent section or with the edge of the access opening. The cover may fit between an inner refrigerated air curtain and outer guard curtains. As illustrated in Fig. 4, each -section has a frame 51 embracing face sheets 53 and in situ foamed plastics insulation. Hooked ends 108 of members 104 ensure the bonding of the frame and the insulation. Fleximagnetic seals 118 engage in slots 112 in the frame members. The frame members are made of wood or extruded plastics and the sheets 53 of aluminium or plastics. If the edge of the access opening is not formed of a magnetic material magnetic tape is secured to it. Control system.-The control system shown in Fig. 6 is provided to avoid heating the contents of the display case if there is a refrigeration breakdown. A temperature senser 60 is located on an evaporator in the air stream which generates the inner air curtain and operates a switch 64 so that the latter closes when the sensed temperature exceeds 0‹ C. and opens when it drops to - 10‹ C. Switch 64 powers a time delay relay 62, illustrated in detail in Fig. 7 (not shown), which, if the switch 64 is not opened again within 25 minutes, opens switches 80 and 82 and closes switches 86 and 88. In normal operation switch 64 opens within 25 minutes. However, if there is a refrigeration breakdown, switches 80 and 82 will open to denergize the air curtain fan motors and antisweat heaters. Switches 86 and 88 will close to short out the defrost mechanism 87 and to energize an alarm system. A switch may be included which will be operated by positioning the night cover to prevent defrosting while the cover is in position. The cover may similarly operate a control system enabling switch in series with the normal enabling switch 68 and may also operate a switch for de-energizing the guard curtain fans.
