1,216,011. Clamps; stud and socket fastenings. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. 24 Dec., 1968 [25 Jan., 1968], No: 3964/68. Heading E2B. A fastener device for securing together panels a, b each having an aperture c formed with at least one slot d extending therefrom, comprises, inner and outer casings 3, 1 open at one end, each casing having laterally extending abutment means 4, 2 for engagement with faces of two of the panels, a spring loaded plunger 5 within the inner casing and slidable through an opening 6 in the inner end of the inner casing 3 and being connected to the closed end of the outer casing, the arrangement being such that, in use, manual depression of the plunger moves the abutment means 4, 2 into spaced relation to permit them to be disposed for resilient engagement with adjacent faces of two panels a, b when the device is inserted through the apertures therein. As shown, the outer casing is provided with a pair of shoulders, constituting the abutment means 2, which upon assembly of the panels, pass through slots d, d in panel a, whereafter the outer casing 1 of the device is rotated through 90 degrees to permit the shoulders to pass through slots d, d in panel b and the outer casing then rotated to abut the panel. Alternatively, the slots d d in both panels may be aligned initially and the outer casing rotated to abut the panel b after the abutments have passed through both panels. The outer casing may have one abutment only.
