[Also in Division E1] A sound absorbing ceiling (or wall) covering comprises a row of channel section members 11 (either dovetail or continuously curved in section) spaced from the ceiling 11, e.g. by battens 13, at least part of the mouth of the channel being closed by sound absorbing material. The insulation may be glass fibres, mineral wool or glass fibre/asbestos mixture. The two embodiments have dovetail channel section members spaced from battens 13 by a sheet of material 15 (Fig. 1), and hemispherical channels spaced from the battens by strips of material (Fig. 3, not shown). The battens may be metallic and coated with P.V.C or foamed plastics.
