Abstract

1,214,286. Rear view mirrors. Y. J. TALBOT. 28 Jan., 1969 [3 April, 1968], No. 4604/69. Heading B7J. [Also in Division F2] A screw having a head 5 with an inclined surface 6 is used for mounting a driving mirror holder 3 on a base 1. The head 5 is provided with two slots 7 intersecting at right angles and the shank 4 is connected by a screw-threaded sleeve 12 having a constriction 18 to a screwthreaded extension 13. The extension 13 is screwed into a plate 14 in the holder 3 for the mirror 22. The holder 3 is mounted in a member 2 secured to the base 1 by a screw 27 whilst the base is attached to the surface 21 of the vehicle by a screw 23 and a hook 24. The screw head 5 is rotated to lie flush in a recess 8 and tightening of the screw compresses a resilient tube 16 between a washer 17 and the plate 14. The screw 4, 5 may be made of polished stainless steel or an electroplated copper alloy and the parts 12, 13 may be coated with a layer of zinc or cadmium. The surface 6 may be slightly convex or concave and may be provided with an hexagonal recess instead of the slots 7.
