Abstract

121,386. Aldecoa, J. Jan 21, 1918 Sectional vessels.-A sectional ship or "marine train " comprises a series of compartments or hulls T, C<1>, C<2>, C<3>, C", P connected together by transverse hinged joints I so that the whole, structure adapts itself to the waves, as shown. The wave movements are utilized to operate air compressing or hydraulic pumps B, the crank-shafts of which are connected to the moving sections. Modincations of the driving-arrangements for the pumps are described, and the power produced is used to propel the vessel or to generate electricity. Two such sectional ships may be used side by side and coupled together. Screens may be fitted to cover the openings between the compartments.
