[Also in Division C7] A corrosion inhibitor, which may be applied to metallic surfaces subject to attack by acid atmospheres or solutions, and may be added to acid baths used to treat metal, comprises iodine and a surface-active agent which may be an alkyl ether sulphate, an alkanolamine, a phosphoric ester or an alkyl amine. When the surface active agent is an alkyl ether sulphate, phosphoric acid may be included in the inhibitor. The surface active agent may be a lauryl ether sulphate sodium salt, diethanolamine, tributoxyethylphosphate or a mixture of stearylamine, palmitylamine and margarylamine.
