Abstract

1,213,029. Venetian blinds. CHR. FABERS FABRIKER A.S. 2 Aug., 1968 [22 Jan., 1968], No. 36976/68. Heading E1J. The head rail 2 of a venetian blind accommodating the tilt bar mechanism 10 is adapted for alternative component operating mechanism such as a flexible operating shaft, Fig. 3, or gear mechanism, Figs. 5 and 6, couplable to the tilt bar 10, by the provision in the head rail of a hole 14, Fig. 6, offset to the side of the tilting rod and in proximity to one end of the rail, the operating component mechanisms being provided as respective units each adapted for mounting in the said hole 14 and for coupling to the tilt bar 10. As shown in Figs. 5, 6, a wormgear and wheel 40, 44 are mounted on a disc 42 having a peripheral groove to accommodate an operating cord 48, and the disc is mounted on a spindle 34 on an angular plate 32 provided with a hole 36 to conicide with hole 14 when mounted in the rail with its vertical side in contact with the side of the head rail remote from the hole 14, with its upper end housed in the bent over rim of the rail, and between the disc 42 and plate 32 is a further disc with upstanding edge 50 which diverts into a channel formation 58 a central rib 60, for retention and guidance of the operating unit, Fig. 3, the flexible shaft 12 has a sleeve 16 of plastics and cast integral with the sleeve is a plate 18 and inclined to the shaft and provided with a portion 22 of reduced diameter to fit in the hole 14, and provided with a peripheral groove 26 to receive an annular disc for securing the plate in the hole, the plate having one straight side to abut against the side of the rail nearest the hole.
