Direct air-pressure apparatus, automatic.- Apparatus for raising liquid comprises a pump e which produces pulsation in a column of air in the pipe h and causes liquid to rise up the pipe a<1> and pass through the valves b<1>, b<2> into the chamber a. On reaching a certain level the liquid through a float d lifts the valve b<2> and tends to stop the supply of liquid, but, if the level is exceeded, the float closes an air valve d' and produces an air cushion in the chamber a. The chamber may be primed through a funnel c<6>. The apparatus is designed to supply liquid fuel, water, or lubricating oil to the engines of aircraft &c., the pump may be driven by a wind motor f or by the engine.
