Abstract

1,212,594. Heating devices for wearing apparel. MULLARD Ltd. 26 Jan., 1968, No. 4231/68. Heading A3V. [Also in Division A5] Heat is conveyed from a warm to a cooler part of the body by liquid pumped in a closed loop circulation system between two heat exchangers A, B worn on the warm and cooler parts of the body respectively. One heat exchanger comprises flexible tubing A supported on a body belt K and is connected by tubing to the other heat exchanger which comprises flexible tubing B supported by a glove N or a sock (not shown). A bladder D supported on the belt completes the closed loop system. On compression and release of the bladder which may be located in use in an armpit and operated by natural movements of the wearer, liquid, e.g. water, is pumped through the system to convey heat from the tubing A to the tubing B. One-way valves (G, H) are positioned where the tubing joins the bladder. An auxiliary electric heater or an auxiliary pump may be arranged in the liquid flow path.
