Abstract

A control and display unit includes a pump and a fluid reservoir in a housing, the pump inlet being connected through a filter. A battery supplies power to the pump motor through a switch. A quick-disconnect coupling is provided to an inlet, outlet conduit to a helmet, vest respectively forming the heat exchange garment. The outlet conduit leads to a flow restrictor, flowmeter and the inlet of an adjustable flow controlling valve leading to the reservoir. Two or more heat exchangers with a respective heat source or sink connect to the flow-controlling valve and to an inlet of the reservoir. The pressure in the garment of the heat exchange fluid is maintained at between ten and fifteen pounds per square inch gauge by the pump and flow restrictor.
