Abstract
1,212,580. Adapters. G. W. BERNHEIM. 30 Dec., 1968, No. 61750/68. Heading H2E. [Also in Division G1] A photo-electric twilight switch which is screwed into a lamp socket and has a socket for receiving the lamp bulb, 'is provided with a telescopic tube which extends from the switch to the lamp globe to prevent lamp light reflected by the globe affecting the photo-electric cell. The switch body comprises two similar halves 20a, 20b held together by a threaded ring 22 which forms the plug for screwing into the lamp socket. The telescopie tube 100 in front of the photoresistor 36 is urged outwards by spring 105 until the cup 108 meets and distorts to conform to the wall of the lamp globe. A set screw 112 holds the tube 100 retracted while the switch is rotated in the lamp socket so that photoresistor receives light from a desired direction. Electrical contact is maintained during rotation by the spring loaded plunger 60. In one modification, the tube is held retracted by lugs and in another the tube sections are threaded and spring 105 is omitted. The switch comprises a series connection of the photoresistor and a relay coil across the supply, the relay contact being in series with the lamp bulb.
