Abstract
1,212,331. Poly-(chloroprene sulphone). CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED. 10 Jan., 1969 [12 Jan., 1968; 12 March, 1968], No. 1553/69. Heading C3P. Chloroprene is copolymerized with sulphur dioxide using as initiator a compound of the formula R.CO.X wherein R is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, or -CO.X and X is hydrogen, hydroxyl, halogen or R.CO.O, R having the same meaning as above and the two groups R being either separate or bonded into one hydrocarbon structure; or paraformaldehyde. Activators such as isopropyl benzene, isopropyl toluene, water, and tert. butanol may be present. Exemplified initiators are glyoxal, paraformaldehyde, propionaldehyde, benzaldehyde, lauryl aldehyde, formic acid, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, oxalic acid. benzoic acid, iaophthalic acid, phthalic anhydride, and benzoyl chloride.
