Abstract

1,212,235. Securing wheels on shafts. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. 20 Feb., 1968 [16 May 1967], No. 8271/68. Heading F2U. In a gear tooth coupling between a shaft 3 and the hub 2 of a track wheel 1 such as a bridge crane, excavator or digger wheel or, in particular, a crane travelling drive wheel subjected to radial loading high in comparison with a drive torque loading, wherein internal involute teeth 4 of the hub engage external involute teeth 5 of the shaft, both the radial and torsional loading is taken by the tooth flanks, both sets of teeth having root clearance 14, 15, the teeth 4, 5 engaging with interference, the teeth being such that measured on a common pitch circle the thickness of the teeth 5 exceeds the gap width between the teeth 4, e.g. by 0-02 to 0À05 mm. The shaft teeth 5 are formed by cold-rolling and the hub teeth by broaching. The wheel may be axially adjusted (e.g. for track gauge correction) by a thrust or pull adjusting device. The crane non-drive wheels may also be secured on their shafts in the above manner.
