Abstract

In a card shuffler as shown, the feeder 27 is pivoted on the axle 32 and is provided with a divider blade 35 so that a pack of cards inserted into the feeder 27 in the vertical position shown in fig. 2 is divided into equal portions. The weight of the cards so inserted causes the feeder 27 to rotate into the delivery position and the above portions slide into the chute defined by the members 10 and 14. Said chutes are provided with gate plates 23 and 24 which only allow the passage of a single card, the cards being ejected from the shoots onto the pile (75c) (Fig. 7 not shown) by the rotation of the rollers 21 and 22. The rollers 21 and 22 are driven by the electric motor 46 via the cam pulley 50 and belt 54 arranged as shown in Fig. 3 so that the rotation of roller 21 is slightly in advance of the rotation of roller 22. In this manner cards from the lower shoot are made to fall underneath cards from the upper shoots onto the pile (75c). Power for the motor 46 is provided by the batteries 65 via the switch mechanism consisting of members 61, 61a, 61b, 62 and 63 which operate by the rotation of feeder 27. A window 75 is provided so that the shuffling process can be viewed. A second embodiment of the invention is given (fig. 7 not shown) in which the feeder is fixed in the delivery position and the above switch mechanism is dispensed with. In both of these embodiments, the width of the mouth of the feeder is adjustable in order to ensure that the divider blade splits an inserted pack into two exactly equal portions.
