Abstract

938,050. Coin-freed vending apparatus. CHARBONNAGES DE FRANCE. Nov. 28, 1961 [Nov. 30, 1960], No. 42467/61. Class 27. A dispensing apparatus for vending domestic products such as light bags of coal has an endless conveyer 1 for carrying trays 2 past at least one charging station 5 and at least one delivery station 6, each tray being capable of tipping by coacting with a withdrawable abutment 9 and delivering its contents down a then-unfolded element 10, 11 constituting a guideway extending between the tray and delivery station. The conveyer, which is driven over toothed wheels 3 either manually or by a coin-operated motor 8, runs in guideways 15 within a partly transparent casing 4. The delivery device disposed in the path of the trays consists of articulated plates 9, 10, 11 connected between a fixed pivot 12 and a delivery tray 6, and so arranged that, as a tray arrives at the delivery station, it contacts the plates and is tipped to discharge its contents down the plates 10, 11 to the delivery tray. Charging of the apparatus at the station 5 may be effected upon reverse movement of the conveyer (the plates then being ineffective) or by arranging for the opening of an access door 5 to release a push button 14 to cause an electromagnet 13, Fig. 3, to withdraw the plate 9 away from the path of the trays. One or more coins inserted in the device 16 operate to close the motor circuit and advance the conveyer one step, a contact breaker moved by the motor then interrupting the circuit. For manual operation of the conveyer the coin-operated mechanism would be adapted to unlock the control. A device is provided for closing the coin slot when the next tray to arrive at the delivery station is empty. Several sets of conveyers for dispensing different items may be incorporated with a push-button selecting device.
