Abstract

1,212,057. Pneumatic tobacco-feed apparatus. JAPAN MONOPOLY CORP. and MURAKAMI SEISAKUSHO K.K. 2 Dec., 1968 [2 Dec., 1967], No. 57137/68. Heading A2C. [Also in Division B8] A pneumatic distribution system comprises a conveyer band with means to supply tobacco thereto, a plurality of collector conduits each having an open end above the band, pneumatic means connected to the collector conduits for sucking air into the open ends of the conduits thereby suck tobacco off the band, and a discharge means between the conduit and the pneumatic means for discharging the tobacco to cigarette making machines. The collector conduits are shown in Fig. 3. In operation the lower parts of the conduits 8 are lowered by the pneumatic cylinder 15 to approach the moving band of tobacco 16, and the flow of air up through the conduit carries tobacco from the band to dischargers of the cigarette-making machines. The dischargers may have storage chambers which have means, e.g. a photo-electric cell, for sensing the amount of tobacco in the chamber, which means may operate a valve positioned between the collector conduit and pneumatic flow to control the flow of tobacco to the discharger.
