Abstract

1,211,794. Toothed gearing. METALLIFACTURE Ltd. 27 Feb., 1969 [22 March, 1968], No. 13860/68. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division B8] Means for rotating a lead screw 3 of a jack comprises a crown wheel 7 formed as part of a sphere and provided with teeth on its peripheral edge to engage teeth on a pinion 13 secured to a cranked arm 9. The jack has a load engaging spigot 5 pivoted at 6 on a nut 4 threaded on the lead screw 3 which has a square head to receive the crown wheel 7. A bracket 14 fits over the lead screw 3 and rests on the top of standard 1 to provide a bearing portion 15 for the cranked arm 9. The lead screw rotating means may be built into the jack, Figs. 1 to 3 (not shown), or releasably clamped thereto by nuts and bolts (not shown).
