Abstract
1,211,240. Loads releasable from flying aircraft. TOKYO TOYO RUBBER INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. 29 Dec., 1967, No. 59126/67. Headings B7G and B7W. A load 4 releasable from an aircraft has attached thereto (e.g. by straps 8) an attachment comprising side walls 1 which encircle the load, and a skirt 3 which extends outwardly either horizontally or inclined upwardly from the walls 1 to which it is connected by gussets 5, and also a part 2 joining the walls 1 and covering the top of the load 4, and may also have a band 7 encircling the walls 1. The attachment is made of flexible sheet or film such as rubber coated cloth or polyvinyl chloride resin sheet, and the skirt 3 may be stiffened with plywood. To assist in righting the load when falling from an aircraft there may be a tunnel 9 formed on one corner of the upper surface of the skirt, the tunnel being tapered and having its larger opening facing the centre. The skirt 3 may extend outwardly from either the top or the centre height of the sidewalls. The load 4 comprises a container which may be a plastics box, a wooden box or a cardboard box and may have a rubber lining for carrying water.
