Abstract

1,244,865. Container ships. CARGOSPEED EQUIPMENT Ltd., and N. T. STEADMAN. 17 Feb., 1970 [19 Nov., 1968], No. 54832/68. Heading B7A. The hold 11 of a container ship 10 provided with fixed vertical pillars 15 to receive the vertical corners of stacked containers of the standard forty feet length is further provided with two vertical doors 16, 17 hinged adjacent the side bulkheads 13, 14 midway between the outer fixed pillars and extending from top to bottom of the hold. Each door has vertical pillars 18, 19, 20 projecting from both faces so that containers 12 of approximately twenty feet length may be stacked when the two doors are turned on their hinges to extend athwartships.
