Abstract

1,210,696. Aerials. CSF-COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. 26 Feb., 1968 [27 Feb., 1967], No. 9110/68. Heading H4A. A radio horn 4 having a rectangular mouth 3 is fed in the TE 10 mode by an active element 6 positioned in a waveguide 1 extending from its narrow end, and is fed in the TE 01 mode by an active element 9 mounted from one of its side walls. It is stated that cross-polarization provides a high degree of decoupling between the two feeds and that duplex operation is possible over a wide frequency range. As described, the elements 6, 9 are probes extending from coaxial feeder terminals 2, 8 and metal posts 5, 7 are provided near them for suspectance adjustment. The end of the rectangular waveguide 1 containing the probe 6 is terminated by a short-circuiting plate. The horn may be associated with a reflecting dish.
