1,210,638. Cycloalkano-quinoline derivatives. BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM G.m.b.H. [21 July, 1969 [23 July, 1968; 14 March, 1969], No. 36601/69. Heading C2C. Novel cycloalkano-quinoline derivatives of the Formula I wherein one of the symbols R 1 and R 2 represents H halogen, NO 2 , NH 2 , OH, acylamino, acyloxy, alkoxy or aryloxy, while the other one, together with R 3 , forms an aliphatic bridge containing 2-6 carbon atoms, X is H, C 1-4 alkyl or C 2-4 alkenyl, and Y is OH, NH 2 or C 1-4 alkoxy and pharmacologically compatible salts thereof are prepared by cyclising a cycloalkano-benzene derivative of Formula II above, in which Y<SP>1</SP> is alkoxy or NH 2 , whereafter, if desired, the products obtained are saponified, esterified, transesterified or converted into amides, and/or the substituents R 1 or R 2 are introduced or chemically changed and/or, when X is H, the product is N-alkylated. Ethyl α - ethoxycarbonyl- # - (4 - indanylamino)-acrylate, ethyl α-ethoxycarbonyl-#-(5- indanylamino)acrylate, ethyl α - ethoxycarbonyl- # - (1,2,3,4 - tetrahydronaphthyl - 6 - amino) acrylate and ethyl α-ethoxycarbonyl-#- (1,2,3,4- tetrahydronaphthyl-5-amino) acrylate are obtained by reacting diethyl. ethoxymethylenemalonate with 4-aminoindane, 5-aminoindane, 6 - amino - 1,2,3,4 - tetrahydronaphthalene and 5 - -amino - 1,2,3,4 - tetrahydronaphthalene respectively. Pharmaceutical compositions, having antimicrobial activity, contain at least one of the above novel compounds in admixture with solid or liquid pharmaceutical diluents or carriers.
