Abstract
1,210,616. Conveying furnace charges. KOPPERS - WISTRA - OFENBAU G.m.b.H. 28 March, 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 16386/69. Heading F4B. A continuous reheating furnace comprises a pair of two-part conveyer beams of circular section rolling on a flat support surface 4, part 2 of said beams being non-reciprocable and part 3 being reciprocable longitudinally. A workpiece 1 is initially supported on part 2, the beams being then rolled laterally until it is supported in part 3, whereupon this part is moved longitudinally in the direction of travel and finally the beams are rolled back into the initial position. In a modification (Figs. 2-4) the beam sections are disposed side-by-side and are water-cooled, the reciprocable section being of lipped channel section enclosing a plate supported by spaced webs from the fixed section, antifriction bearing rollers being disposed between said plate and said reciprocable beam section. The fixed beam section is formed with spaced arcuate formations resting on rollers to provide the necessary transverse oscillating movement of the two beam sections. In another modification (Fig. 5), the workcarrying reciprocable beam has a vertical longitudinal plate carrying rollers engaging rails at the bottom of a water-cooled U-shaped beam. This structure is again disposed side-byside with a non-reciprocable beam. A final modification (Fig. 6) comprises a water-cooled base of substantially rectangular configuration supporting an upper fixed beam and an upper reciprocable beam engaging one another by a tongue and groove joint of C-section.
