Abstract

1,210,538. Sintering fine ore. YAHAGI SEITETSU K.K. 19 Dec., 1967 [29 Dec., 1966], No. 57513/67. Heading C1A. In a process of ore sintering finely divided ore i.e. ore having particles smaller than about 10 mm. in diameter, the raw materials are ground and kneaded in a damp state in a cylindrical mill having peripheral discharge openings and containing rods or balls as a grinding medium. The ore may contain 7-18% by weight of moisture and the ore may be mixed with fine coke or return fines prior to grinding and kneading alternatively the ore may be mixed with these materials together with coarse ore before sintering. The ground and kneaded material may be granulated before sintering. The granulated product may be mixed with coarse ore, i.e. ore having particles smaller than 10 mm. in diameter and less than 20% by weight of particles of less than 150 mesh, fine coke and/or return fines according to need and the whole mixture sintered. If desired the mixture may be granulated just before the sintering step.
