Abstract

1396943 Compressed graphite powder ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 14 July 1972 [16 July 1971] 32949/72 Heading C1A A compressed graphite powder with a substantially spherical grain is formed by compressing flake graphite into a tablet or pellet form to a gross density of at least 1À5 gm./cm.<SP>3</SP> and the graphite pellets or tablets are ground and sieved to a granular size distribution of between 50 and 400 Ám. The graphite used may have a carbon content #96% by weight and a size distribution of 5-80 Ám. The pressure during compression may be between 1 and 5 t./cm.<SP>2</SP>. A bell crusher may be used for grinding the graphite. The graphite obtained may be mixed with a metal, e.g. copper powder and the mixture utilized to form metal/carbon brushes.
