Abstract

1,210,501. Laminated packaging material. MACMILLAN BLOEDEL CONTAINERS Ltd. 13 Oct., 1967 [14 July, 1966], No. 31742/66. Heading B5N. Packaging material is produced by applying plastics materials from a nozzle 7 to the inner surface of one of two webs 5, 6 of paper, cardboard, fibre-board, passing the composite between corrugating rollers 8, 9, and then applying a web 3 of similar material to the webs 5, 6 as a liner. A second liner 2 may be applied to the other side and the liners may be secured to the corrugated composite by adhesive applied at 11, 12 to the crests of the latter or by the plastics material itself, for which purpose the webs 5, 6 may have perforations. After the application of the web 3, the material is passed over a platform 15, which may be heated, and beneath a belt 13. Further heating may be applied by elements 16 to cure the plastics material. The latter may be polyurethane or polystyrene, may alternatively be applied by brushing, curtaining or spraying, and may be caused to foam.
