Abstract

120,991. Walker, F. T. Dec. 5, 1917. Framework.-Wooden box girders consist of sides a, either laminated or of single thickness, and upper and lower booms c, either flanged to cramp the sides against distance pieces b, Fig. 1, or grooved to receive the sides as shown in Fig. 3. The several members are made up of lengths arranged to break joint longitudinally; the members b, c have sloping or scarfed joints, and the laminated sides may be built up of diamondshaped pieces with the grain running diagonally to the length of the girder and in reverse directions on adjacent lamimµ. Metal rods e or other material may be used to reinforce the joints as desides a, either laminated or of single thickness,. scribed in Specification 119,525, [Class 145 (ii), Wood, Working].
