Abstract
1,209,875. Heating and ventilating vehicles; heat exchangers. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. 22 April, 1969 [23 April, 1968], No. 20488/69. Headings F4U and F4V. In a motor vehicle heating and ventilating system, fresh air flows through a heat exchanger which is fed with engine coolant and which has two zones at different temperatures, air which .has passed through the higher temperature zone being admitted to the lower part of the passenger compartment, and air which has passed through the lower temperature zone being admitted to the upper part of the compartment. As illustrated, two heat exchangers are provided, each having an inflow vessel 8 and an outflow vessel 9 connected by ribbed tubes 4 to a return header 6. The heat exchangers serve opposite sides of the passenger compartment and are so disposed in a easing 12 that air heated by coolant flowing to the return header passes through a connection 13 to the passenger footspace, and that air heated by coolant flowing from the return header passes via a duct 14 to windscreen nozzles and via at least one duct 15 to lateral nozzles. The air flows to or from the casing 12 may be controlled by flaps.
