Abstract

1,209,716. Rotatable spinning ring. MAREMONT CORP. 3 Dec., 1968 [2 Jan., 1968], No. 57293/68. Heading DID. In a ring spinning frame having rotatable rings 30, each of which are mounted in a stationary housing 22 by a cushion of air, a brake means is carried by the stationary, spindle carrying rail 12 and engages the rings to cause retardation of their rotational movement when the rings carried by a ring rail 20 are moved to a lowered position with respect to the normal traversing range at the conclusion of the bobbin winding. The brake means preferably comprises a friction pad 54 which is resiliently mounted on the spindle rail 12 between each pair of spindles 13. In the lowered position flanges 33 of the rings which extend beneath the ring rail 20 contact the pad. Consequential upward displacement of ring 30 is minimized by providing a retainer member 38 held in place by clips 28 and projections 23 on housing 22. Normally compressed air supplied to housing 22 through pipe 21 passes through apertures 27 in the housing to provide a cushion of air between the housing and the ring, the air escaping in direction P between the lower surface of a flange 36 on the ring and the upper surface of the housing. Centrifugal force also causes air to flow in direction C between the top surface of the flange 36 and the under surface of the retainer member 38, which member is of reduced thickness at its inner periphery which is spaced from the ring.
