Abstract
1,209,555. Sirens. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 29 April, 1968 [25 May, 1967], No. 20110/68. Heading G5J. [Also in Division G3] In a sonic generator a constant flow of fluid is directed alternately into two conduits. As shown, an annular armature 3 carrying a coil 5 energized with alternating current to oscillate in the field of a cylindrical magnet 4 directs fluid from an annular conduit 2 into conduits 8 and 10 alternately. The armature is resiliently mounted on a rigid structure 6 by resilient crosspieces 7. The fluid in conduit 8 escapes in the direction of arrow 9, while the fluid in conduit 10 passes into a collector 11 and through one or more conduits 12 in the direction of arrow 13. The space near the outlet aperture of conduit 2 is connected to the open air by means of a passage 14 and hollow cross-pieces 15. In alternative embodiments (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) one or both of the fluid jets obtained as above is used to deflect a power jet into two conduits to obtain two wave trains of a higher power.
