Abstract

897,482. Electricity generators. DUKES & BRIGGS ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Sept. 30, 1960 [July 1, 1959], No. 22527/59. Class 35. [Also in Group XXXVIII] A generator for measuring the rate of fluid flow through a conduit comprises a vaned rotor 10 carrying a cylindrical permanent magnet 12, located inside the conduit 17, and a coil 18, wound on a core 19 with two polepieces 20 extending on either side of the rotor 10, located outside the conduit. The fluid flow drives the rotor 10, and a series of voltage pulses are produced in the coil 18 whose magnitude and/or frequency is indicative of the rate of fluid flow.
