Abstract

1,209,539. 4<SP>1</SP> - Acyloxy - 4 - fluorosulphonylbiphenyl. MERCK & CO. Inc. 12 Aug., 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 13256/70. Divided out of 1,209,538. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of general formula wherein Z is an acyl radical, may be obtained by reacting a 4-acyloxybiphenyl with a fluorosulphonylating agent or with a sulphonating or chlorosulphonating agent simultaneously with or followed by a fluorinating agent. Suitable agents are fluorosulphonic acid, a mixture of chlorosulponic acid and potassium fluoride, and chlorosulphonic acid followed by phosphorus pentafluoride, phosphorus oxyfluoride, potassium fluoride or hydrogen fluoride.
