Abstract

1,209,173. Treating toilet waste. G. R. CARLSON. 31 Oct., 1967 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 49511/67. Heading C1C. A treatment unit for toilet effluent on ships &c. has an inlet pipe 56 which conducts the effluent through a mascerator tube 41 to a holding zone 24. The liquid overflows into the chamber 25 containing a bed of hypochlorite tablets for sterilizing and here a filtering action also takes place. The treated liquid passes through the baffled zone 30 and is discharged at 47. A vent 39 may be used. The mascerator tube may be controlled in its action by control box 79. The bed of tablets may have a sloping floor 22 to allow some hypochlorites to flow back into zone 24 for a pretreatment.
