[Also in Divisions C3 and C7] Novel polyoxyalkylene derivatives of propargyl alcohol of general formula where R 1 and R 2 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstitued alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aryl group, and n is an integer of from 2- 30, wherein the oxyalkylene groups may be the same or different providing that when the oxyalkylene groups are the same only one of R 1 and R 2 is a hydrogen atom and in the latter case being in the form of a block or random copolymer, e.g. of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, are prepared by condensing propargyl alcohol with one or more alkylene oxides of formula in the presence of a catalyst.
