Abstract
1,208,288. Glass mixtures; coating with glass. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 21 Nov., 1967 [2 Dec., 1966; 5 Dec., 1966; 7 Dec., 1966], No. 53004/67. Heading C1M. [Also in Division C4] A semiconductive electroluminescent layer includes an electroluminescent powder 103 (e.g. ZnS:Al, Cu), semi-conductive metal oxide powder 102 (e.g. SnO 2 , TiO 2 , Sb 2 O 5 and WO 3 ) which is highly reflective to the light emitted from the electro-luminescent powder intermingled with each other in a vitreous binding agent 101 which may be of composition SiO 2 - 20À01%; B 2 O 3 -28À58%; ZnO-18À33%; BaO -14À34%; CaO-0À74%; MgO-0À016%; Na 2 O-10À84%; K 2 O-4À05%; TiO 2 -2À31%; Al 2 O 3 -0À41%; Fe 2 O 3 -0À009%; and PbO- 0À012%. Ratios of the constituents, given by volume percentages, are metal oxide 10-20(15); E.L. powder 15-30 (20) and vitreous binding agent 65, with powder sizes preferably less than 5, 10 and 1 micron respectively. The powders mixed with a volatile liquor (diacetone or octyl alcohol) are deposited by silk screening and fired on a heatproof substrate such as a glass plate 105 with transparent electrode layer 104 of stannic oxide the substrate have similar coefficients of expansion.
