Abstract

1,208,224. Presensitized printing plates. POLYCHROME CORP. March 25, 1969 [March 25, 1968], No. 15586/69. Heading G2C. [Also in Division C7] A presensitized lithographic printing plate comprises an aluminium sheet having a porous and hardened surface formed by anodizing, first in a HC1 electrolyte with A.C., then in a H 2 SO 4 electrolyte with D.C., and a coating on the surface of a light-sensitive layer, e.g. containing a diazo-diphenylamine, condensation product with formaldehyde, a diazonium salt and a tannable colloid e.g. polyacrylamide or a cellulose hydroxy alkyl ether, a reaction product of a diazo resin and potassium ferricyanide or a reaction product of a diazo resin with certain couplers as in Specification 1, 055, 079. Alternatively, the light-sensitive layer may be a bichromated colloid, a photo-polymerizable material, an azido compound, a benzo - or a naphtho-quinone diazide, condensation products of benzo - or naphtho-quinone diazides sulphonic esters with phenol-formaldehyde or acetone/pyragallol, acenaphthenes, sulphanilido-methylene fluorenes, S-alkylthio-diarylamine perchlorates, iodonitrothiophenes and nitronaphthalenes. The surface is preferably provided with an undercoating of a Group IVb metal fluoride compound, e.g. Zr F 4 , K 2 ZrF 6 , or H 2 ZrF 6 , or of an alkali metal silicate or silicic acid, to which the lightsensitive material is adherent.
