1,208,118. p - Amino - N,N - disubstituted anilines. MONTECATINI EDISON S.p.A. 19 Dec., 1967 [27 Dec., 1966], No. 57501/67. Addition to 1,160,076. Heading C2C. In a process for the preparation of a p - amino - N,N - di - substituted - aniline, aniline is acetylated, the resulting acetanilide is reacted with a di-substituted chloro-amine having the formula RR<SP>1</SP>NCl, in which R and R<SP>1</SP> are alkyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl groups or form together with the nitrogen atom a heterocyclic nucleus in the presence of a ferrous salt in aqueous sulphuric acid solution and the resulting p - amino - N,N - di - substituted acetanilide is hydrolysed. p - Amino - N,N - dimethyl aniline, p - piperidino - aniline and p - N - benzyl - N - methyl aniline are prepared in examples.
