Abstract
1,207,361. Electro-photographic processes. RANK XEROX Ltd. Sept.22, 1967 [Sept.20, 1966], No.43296/67. Heading G2H. A method of forming an electrostatic latent . image which comprises applying an electrostatic charge to the surface of a non-electrically conductive and non photo-conductive material 15 selectively exposing the charged surface to high intensity electro-magnetic radiation source of at least 200 joules to produce the latent image. The radiation source may be flash lamps containing xenon, krypton, helium, neon and/or argon having a flash duration of from about 0 to 140 micro seconds Examples of insulating materials are:- (Registered Trade Mark), "Staybelite", polyethylene terephthalate ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate, poly carbonates, polyethylene, polypropylene, chlorinated natural rubber, vinyl chloride-acetate, polyvinyl chloride the material 15 is coated on a substrate 16. Aqueous based or polar liquid developers may be used in addition to toners dispersed in insulating liquids. Metal complexes or compounds, e.g., cuprous tetramine complex, chromium salts, and potassium chromate may also be used.
