Abstract
1,207,156. Gas meter with filter. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 May, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 22213/67. Heading B1T. [Also in Division F2] A gas meter incorporates, within its casing 1, a cylindrical inward-flow filter 10, adjacent the inlet 2, and an inlet pressure regulating valve 29, urged downwards, away from its seat 30, by spring 17 and upwards by the gas pressure acting on the lower face of diaphragm 12, which may communicate through port 31 with the inlet space 32 of the meter or through a passage (43) with outlet connection 3 (Fig. 2, not shown). Valve 29 may also be actuated by lever 33 of a pre-payment mechanism. Lower diaphragm 24 has a compensating function. The filter is removable after detaching a cover plate 7, which may be in the side, front or corner of the casing (Figs. 3 to 6, not shown). The inlet 2, outlet 3, filter housing 4 and valve housing 5 may be formed integrally with a die cast casing 1, as shown, or are formed as a separate casting and attached to a pressed steel casing (Fig. 2).
