Abstract

1,206,994. Reactors. WHESSOE Ltd. 21 Feb., 1969 [26 March, 1968], No. 14516/68. Heading G6C. The nuclear reactor pressure vessel, Fig. 1, is provided with internal thermal insulation and gas flow within the insulation layer is restricted by the seals 17, 18, 19 and 20. The seals are formed of a base-plate 21, welded to the vessel wall, which supports the strip 22 and inserts 23. The flanges 24 stiffen the edge of strip 22. Relative thermal expansion of the strip edges is accommodated by distortion of the inserts and not by distortion of the strip.
