Abstract
1,206,686. Hydrostatic transmission control. CASCADE CORP. 30 Sept., 1968 [3 Nov., 1967], No. 46340/68. Heading F2D. [Also in Division G3] In a hydrostatic transmission for a loadhandling apparatus of a truck wherein a pump 70 supplies pressure liquid through a reversing valve 74 to parallel motors 38, 40 driving a common output shaft 44, a pressure-sensitive valve 52 cuts the pressure liquid supply to the motor 38, which is permitted to freewheel, when the supply pressure is below a predetermined value for high-speed, low-torque drive by the motor 40 alone and connects the motor 38 to the pressure liquid supply when the supply pressure exceeds the predetermined value for low-speed, high-torque drive by both motors in parallel. The pressure-sensitive valve 52 has a slidable valve spool 142 biased by springs 154, 156 to a central position in which it blocks the pump supply and return ducts 58, 60 and interconnects the ducts 54, 56 to the motor 38 which is therefor permitted to freewheel. When the pressure in the duct 58 (or 60) attains a predetermined value it opens a ball valve 166 (as 170) and acts through ducts 130, 116 (as 132, 120) on the left (or right) end of the valve spool 142 and moves the spool right (or left) to interconnect ducts 58, 54; 60, 56, whereupon both motors operate in parallel.
