Abstract

1,206,374. Steering vehicles. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU S.M. KIROW, VEB. 23 May, 1968, No. 24680/68. Heading B7H. In a road vehicle which may be towed or self-propelled a steering linkage serving a plurality of pairs of steered wheels 32 is fitted at the front end of the vehicle frame 1 at substantially the same height as a drawbar 25 and a drawbar coupling 4 and comprises two arms 12, 13, each attached to a respective shaft 11 and interconnected by a link 14 to form three sides 12, 13 and 14 of a trapezium, a coupling 23 operatively connecting one of the shafts 11 to the drawbar coupling, each of the two shafts 11 being connected to the steered wheels on a respective side of the vehicle. The linkage 12, 13, 14 is mounted within a frame 5 which is detachably mounted within the box girder vehicle frame 1 and may be connected through an arm 20 and a rod 22 to a steering gear of the vehicle. The shafts 11 project through the bottom of the frame 1 and are secured to arms 17 which are connected by adjustable drag links 27, 28 to steering arms 30, 31 of the wheels 32.
