Abstract

1,206,067. Selective printing. SOC. ITALIANA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SIEMENS S.p.A. 7 May, 1969 [11 June, 1968], No. 23214/69. Heading B6F. A print hammer assembly comprises a base 11 supporting an electromagnet 10 which acts on an armature 4 on a frame 3 pivoted on a pin 9, the armature frame 3 engaging a hammer frame 2 on which a print hammer 1 is mounted and which also pivots on the pin 9. The electromagnet may have a core of E-shape formed of ferrosilicon laminations. The armature frame 3 may be of aluminium, and includes fingers 5 which strike the bottoms of recesses 12 to limit the rotation of the armature frame, the hammer frame continuing under its own momentum. A screw 7 defines the rest position of the armature frame. A spring 8 returns the armature frame and hammer frame to the rest position. Rebound of the hammer frame and armature frame is prevented by damping the return thereof by connecting a diode and resistor in parallel with the electromagnet coil. The hammer assembly may be employed with a chain printer or a rotating tyre wheel printer.
