Abstract

1,205,813. Cooling electrical equipment. MARCONI CO. Ltd. 5 April, 1968 [25 July, 1967], No. 34080/67. Heading F4U. [Also in Division H1] Electrical equipment is mounted on thermally conducting plates which are pressed against deformable conduits carrying a cooling liquid. As illustrated, metal plates 1 designed to carry printed circuits (not shown) have flanges 2 which are pressed against water carrying conduits 3 formed of thin metal sheet, deformation of the conduits allowing good thermal contact between the flanges and the conduits. A plate 4 has grooves (not shown) to locate the edges of the plates 1 remote from the flanges, and a U- shaped member 6 attached to the plate 4 holds the conduits in compression against the flanges. In modifications, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), the conduits are formed by attaching C-section channels to a backing sheet, and the conduits may each be of sufficient width to contact a plurality of flanges.
