Abstract
1,205,632. Surface condensers. W. J. LITHGOW. 26 June, 1968 [28 March, 1967], No. 13943/67. Heading F4S. [Also in Division F1] A radial outward flow steam turbine having a rotor 1 and a stator 4 has a condenser formed by an annular compartment 5 on the periphery of the rotor. Baffles 7 assist condensation by setting up a wave motion in the condensate, the latter being drawn-off from compartment 5 through a scoop 8. The condenser may be of the surface type, the rim of the rotor being immersed in the cooling medium.
